Building Futures: How Académie Bilingue du Congo is Shaping the Next Generation
When Paul Musavuli talks about his future, he speaks with a confidence that was built in his Académie Bilingue du Congo (ABC) classrooms.
The student can discuss coding and website design. He can converse in English. He can swim. He captains his school’s soccer team. Most importantly, he believes he is capable of achieving things he once thought were beyond his reach.
“ABC has really had an impact on me,” he says.
That impact is exactly what the school was created to do. More than a place where students memorize lessons and pass exams, Académie Bilingue du Congo seeks to build a foundation for lifelong learning. Through a combination of academic excellence, English-language instruction, STEM education, sports and character formation, students are equipped not only for success in school but also for the challenges and possibilities that lie ahead.
For Paul, some of the most transformative experiences have come through the school’s STEM and sports programs.
“ABC taught me English,” he says. “Through STEM, I learned how to use a computer, coding and programming.”
Those skills have opened up new possibilities. Today, he can build websites and imagines one day using those abilities to start a business of his own. Learning English has expanded his horizons as well, giving him confidence that he can communicate with people from around the world and perhaps even teach others what he has learned.
As captain of the school’s soccer team, Paul has learned how to work with others, listen well and lead by example. He remembers when swimming felt impossible.
“I was really at zero,” he says. “I didn’t know how to swim.”
By listening to coaches and classmates and practicing consistently, he improved. This is a formula that he can use throughout his life.
For fellow student Masika Salita Salama, the school’s greatest gift has also been confidence.
“ABC meant many things to me and to my family because now I am able to talk in English,” she says.
At home, she practices with her family and even helps teach her mother. Her parents are proud of what she has accomplished. She sees English as a doorway to future opportunities from work to travel. What stands out most to her is the school’s culture.
“ABC is not just a school,” she says. “It’s like a family.”
That sense of belonging is something parents notice as well.
For Elisée Kava, whose children attend ABC, trust is one of the school’s greatest strengths. He speaks appreciatively about the care teachers show toward students and the safe environment they have created.
“We cannot take our children away from here,” he says. “We know that you keep them very well.”
Every day, students at ABC are learning mathematics, science, English and technology. But they are also learning perseverance, teamwork, curiosity and confidence. They are discovering who they are and what they might become.
For students like Paul and Masika, those lessons are already beginning to bear fruit. And for families like Elisée’s, they represent hope for the future.
At Académie Bilingue du Congo, education is more than preparation for tomorrow. It is the foundation upon which tomorrow is built.
