WHY CONGO?
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a land of paradox. Its wealth of natural resources makes it potentially one of the richest countries in the world. Yet, destructive socio-political forces over the last two centuries have given rise to exploitative leadership, corrupt systems, vulnerable communities, and traumatized people.
The second largest nation in Africa (roughly the size of western Europe), abundantly endowed with agricultural, mineral, hydroelectric, and other resources, Congo is one of the most strategic countries on the continent. Its future will significantly influence the economic, political, and environmental outlook not only of the African continent, but also the rest of the world.
WHY EDUCATION MATTERS?

WHY A UNIVERSITY?
Numerous humanitarian organizations are spending millions of dollars in Congo every year, but most are not addressing the need for visionary and servant-minded leaders who serve the common good. There is a rising generation in Congo who sees a new path forward but faces a gap in access to the educational resources and community needed to unleash their full potential.
Universities, in their best form, can serve as places where students can see their hopes and dreams flourish. They can serve as places of transformation, where renewed minds begin to envision a different world – one of peace and justice. They can also provide critical resources and services for the wider community.
Innovative, holistic, student-centered, research-based education opens the door to better employment opportunities, creates jobs, and equips the next generation to be the change they want to see. We accompany these changemakers, committed to providing them with an education within Congo’s borders and serving the wider community with critical services.
