We believe that counseling interventions are critical for personal and community transformation in a context that continues to experience domestic and political violence, as well as, common mental and behavioral health challenges. Launched in 2016, Bethesda Counseling Center provides caring, loving and compassionate Christian counseling programs, including individual and group counseling; play therapy for children; grief and trauma services, counseling for victims of sexual violence; and training for local church leaders. Through the Center, we seek to bring hope, healing, and restoration for wounded individuals and communities.
On August 1, 2018, an Ebola outbreak was declared in the Beni region. Our Bethesda Counseling Center is playing an active role in on the frontline, providing psychosocial support and training healthcare workers. Counselors also facilitate grief counseling and stress management for family members of Ebola victims while also training community leaders in the same practices.
TESTIMONIALS
“In counseling I just felt like there was someone who understood for the first time my pain.”
“Even in our churches we have never found a person who acknowledges the pain of loss widows have inside. When we came here we felt comforted and respected as widows. Here we read scripture, we sing, we rejoice and we drink tea for free. We feel close to heaven.”
