Decades of research and our own personal experience with educators show that the quality of teaching is one of the most important indicators for student outcomes and learning. In DRC, most primary school educators have a high-school diploma or lower and have few, if any opportunities for ongoing professional development or self-teaching. Unfortunately, even getting paid is often an uncertainty for many teachers, especially in the North Kivu region.
At ABC, we recognize that our teachers are precious resources with the capacity to influence individual students, families, and the wider community. We seek to provide our teachers with ongoing opportunities for professional development and mentorship so they can flourish in this challenging and rewarding career.
Would you like to invest in our teachers at ABC? $250/month pays one teacher’s salary. Funds for teacher development also help us send teachers for training, pay for online courses, and acquire in-house training materials.
