FOOD
Kids learn better when they aren’t hungry. This is proven by research, and probably seems obvious to most of us. Unfortunately many Congolese children don’t have access to regular, healthy meals. At ABC we provide not only a healthy breakfast and lunch for each child and staff member every day, but also teach our students about how what they eat impacts their health and wellness, as well as their environment.
WATER
Another challenge for our community is access to clean water. Our students and their families experience a high rate of water borne illness due to inadequate sewer and sanitation systems. We are currently seeking a new filtration system that will give students access to all the clean water they need.
GARDEN
Living at the edge of the Congo rainforest basin, we are blessed with two full growing seasons in Beni. This year we hope to expand our school garden to grow our own food as well as giving our students important learning experiences as they engage in the growing process with us.
$1/day provides a fully prepared and healthy breakfast and lunch for two students.
