Bridge Builders: Transforming Congo One Student at a Time
Something new is happening in Beni, at UCBC. A renewal of hope, vision and leadership. Help up be a bridge of transformation for our students.
Opportunity – Now is a tremendous moment of opportunity to invest in Congolese young people who will serve and lead their nation with integrity, hope and a commitment to peace and justice. KipepeoPartners is a growing movement of individuals who support the training of this new generation of leaders seeking to be agents of change. As monthly supporters, Bridge Builders are critical to CI’s ability to sustain a UCBC education. Bridge Builders are exactly that–partners in “being transformed to transform.” Something new is emerging out of Beni, and this is your opportunity to be a part of it!
Why Join? – The annual operating cost of UCBC is roughly $1,200 per student per year. The expected student contribution meets 25-35% of these costs, depending on his/her year of enrollment. In addition, students are required to invest a minimum of two hours/week in manual labor to beautify and maintain the campus grounds. However, many UCBC students struggle even to make these minimum financial contributions.
Commitment – In becoming a regular donor who makes automatic, recurring contributions, your relationship with the work of CI will deepen and expand as you participate in this work of transformation. Like the members of the protective community that surrounds UCBC, you will be an active participant in renewing and nourishing DRC’s new generation of Christian leaders.
Consistency – By registering your recurring donation, you will be able to give regularly and consistently, providing a pattern of giving that will help your personal financial planning and help CI establish our budget based on faithful, individual donors like yourself.
Convenience – You will only have to enter your personal contact and donation information once, avoiding the hassle of re-entering information every time you want to contribute (as is the case with one-time donations).
Here is what one Bridge Builder has to say:
[My wife and I] have been blessed to watch UCBC grow from its inception. In fact, our first trip to Congo was in 2007 when UCBC was still a dream and consisted of trenches and a storage shed. For UCBC to grow from these humble beginnings to its current status is truly miraculous. I have been an educator for two decades. I have observed and assisted numerous mission ministries on four continents. Based on these experiences I can say without qualification that I believe UCBC is one of the finest Christian educational institutions in the majority world. The educational philosophy is cutting edge and the students are remarkable. By virtually every conceivable measurement (poverty, conflict, violence against women, etc.) the DRC is one of the neediest countries on the planet. UCBC is educating and raising up a new generation of leaders who can, by God’s grace, change the future of their country. My wife and I are delighted to be Bridge Builders and have been richly blessed by this experience. This is a strategic kingdom investment. We urge others to seriously consider becoming Bridge Builders.
