Nehemiah Babikana

Nehemiah Babikana

March 8, 2016 by Justin Hubbard

Nehemie“The UCBC programs are feeding and nourishing us, and this is only possible through Congo Initiative supporters. Each individual student feels the impact of CI supporters, and it waters the seeds within us.”

Nehemiah Kabucungu Babikana was not necessarily inclined to take on leadership roles before coming to UCBC. However, throughout his four years as a student, he was a University Youth Devoted to Christ choir leader, Creation Care committee member, service learning intern, and sports’ minister in student government.

UCBC helped Nehemiah discover his leadership potential. “I used to just wait to be told what to do, but when I began serving as the sports’ minister, I had to plan and take responsibility,” Nehemiah said. “I have gained the will and desire to serve where there is need.”

A recent graduate from UCBC in Organizational Communications, Nehemiah now works as the communications and partnership officer for Congo Initiative’s new Center for Development and Partnership. He is excited to lead in this capacity and continue spreading a different mentality in Congo – a mentality that builds confidence and trust. Though still interested in pursuing a pastoral role within the church, Nehemiah describes his deepest desire is to “live theology.”

Nehemiah also understands the opportunity to study at UCBC is made possible, in part, due to the generous donations of CI supports. “The UCBC programs are feeding and nourishing us, and this is only possible through Congo Initiative supporters. Each individual student feels the impact of CI supporters, and it waters the seeds within us.”
