IF LEADERSHIP IS THE KEY, THEN EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO BRINGING UP THESE LEADERS.”
Dr. David Kasali, President & Founder of Congo Initiative
The University
L’Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) educates and equips changemakers and models transformation by holistically renewing communities and promoting systemic change in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
UCBC provides an innovative, student-centered approach to higher education that prepares students to ignite change, achieve social impact, and transform lives. The pedagogy includes community-engaged academics and research, character formation, ethics, and an emphasis on service.

Primary and Secondary Education
In Congo, an estimated 7 million children aged 5-17 do not go to school, with only 50% of girls in that age group attending. Only 67% of children who start first grade will complete sixth grade.* We believe the first step to breaking cycles of poverty and conflict is primary education. Congo Initiative invests in Congo’s youngest learners through Académie Bilingue du Congo and La Charité Bilingue du Congo.

Community Engagement Initiatives
We believe education is the most powerful tool to bring about the transformation of lives and communities. Educational institutions, at their best, not only equip and train students but serve the wider community. Therefore, we support several community engagement initiatives that serve and provide solutions for some of the greatest needs of the wider community. Each initiative is connected to an academic department or research institute at UCBC and students participate through service-learning, research, and internships.
