    Université Chrétienne
    Bilingue du Congo

Our core catalyst of change is Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC), a bilingual university equipping the next generation of leaders through transformative education and creating systemic change through holistic, community engagement initiatives.

In the midst of a challenging context, and out of an already resilient society, a new liberating and transformative narrative is being written and lived. It begins at the Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) /Christian Bilingual University of Congo, where committed Congolese visionaries are developing (and nurturing) a redemptive community of passionate, young men and women. It continues in shaping these women and men as students equipped through professional and formative education at the highest level. And, it is witnessed in the UCBC alumni who identify, own, and respond to Congo’s challenges with skill, dedication, excellence, creativity, and Christian hope. In short, through UCBC the future leaders of Congo are being transformed to transform.

Launched in 2007, the Christian Bilingual University of Congo/Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) is leading Congo by modeling a type of education that is integrated and relevant for Congo’s challenges in the 21st century. The four-year liberal arts institution not only offers undergraduate (Bachelors) degrees and multiple concentrations in five academic departments but provides a distinct formation and programs that equip the next generation of leaders to create change in their communities.

Like many universities, UCBC relies on generous, external support to deliver high-quality education that will shape a generation of transformational leaders. Full UCBC tuition is just $2,400 per year. Students and their families make extraordinary sacrifices to pay $400 per year, on average (98% of Congo’s annual per capita gross national income). This leaves a balance of $2,000 required to fully fund each student.

In 2017, we launched the Next 500 Future Leaders campaign, providing the opportunity for you to match the students’ contributions with your own gifts. Over the next four years, invest in developing the next 500 transformational leaders who will be taught and mentored at the Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) – young adults equipped to identify, own, and shape a new narrative for 21st century Congo.

UCBC also engages the community, reaching those most impacted by poverty and insecurity, particularly women and children. This work includes primary education, vocational and literacy training, pro bono legal services, and counseling.

    La Charité Primary School

Due to poverty, unemployment, and other hardships, many families in Beni and the surrounding area are unable to afford school fees. La Charité serves more than 200 children who otherwise may not attend school.

    ABC Primary School

Académie Bilingue du Congo (ABC) is the affiliated primary school of UCBC, and seeks to apply its transformational vision of education in the lives of Congo’s youngest learners through character development, community engagement, and critical thinking.

    Bethesda Counseling Center

Bethesda provides counseling interventions that are critical for personal and community transformation in a context that experiences domestic and political violence, and common mental and behavioral health challenges.
